Mountain Crisis Services, the lead organization for Valley Crisis Center, was founded in 1990 by a small group of community members who were concerned about the problem of domestic violence in Mariposa County. What began as a 24-hour crisis hotline service, has with community support, grown into a critical support service for families in crisis in Mariposa County.
In July 2008 Mountain Crisis Services opened Valley Crisis Center (VCC). Valley Crisis Center was established to ensure that domestic violence and sexual assault services were provided in Merced County. Since that time Valley Crisis Center has been extremely successful in serving victims, honoring diversity, and growing into a program that truly meets the needs of the community.
In July of 2018, Valley Crisis Center celebrated 10 Years of Service with the community in a free event.
“We provide hope, support and recovery for those who are or who have been victims.”
Valley Crisis Center and our associated programs seek to prevent domestic and sexual violence by advocating for positive changes in the societal systems that may lead to oppression, fostering a better understanding of domestic and sexual violence through community education, and providing culturally relevant direct services that empower victims of abuse and their children.
